Nearby is Cape Kaliakra - the easternmost point of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. In one of the caves on Cape Kaliakra there is a museum where visitors can learn more about the history and development of the Kaliakra fortress over the years. Kaliakra is a nature and archeological reserve, there are many protected species on its territory, and the remains of a fortress wall and a bath have been preserved.

The nearby village of Kamen Bryag is popular with tourists as the place where they welcome the July Morning. In 2007, Uraya Heap vocalist John Lawton sang the band's eponymous song at sunrise on the beach. July Morning is a hippie custom that originated in the socialist era as a symbolic protest against the regime and as a celebration of the free spirit and rock music.

2 km from the village of Kamen Bryag is the national archaeological reserve "Yailata", where many archaeological discoveries have been made. Three necropolises carved into the rocks and 101 cave dwellings from the 5th millennium BC have been discovered on an area of ​​300 decares. "Yaylata" is located between two sea terraces. It is believed that the bay between them was once used as a port, as many anchors were found at the bottom. The fortress in the area of ​​Yailata was built at the end of the 5th - beginning of the 6th century AD, then it was destroyed, and later - in the 9th century a Bulgarian settlement appeared around it. The reserve is included in the Register of Protected Areas and Protected Areas of Bulgaria by Order No. RD822 of August 23, 2002.

To the north of Kaliakra are two wetlands - Bolata and Taukliman ("Bird's Bay"). Interesting waterfowl nest here, and some of the animal species are included in the Red Book of Bulgaria (list of endangered species in the country). These are some of the destinations in the country preferred by ornithologists.

Near Kavarna are also the villages of Balgarevo, Shabla, Tyulenovo.

Within the municipality of Kavarna is one of the most prestigious golf courses in Bulgaria. A few kilometers from the city are modern tourist complexes.
